I don’t know why exactly the rename and convert methods fail, but I suspect that as an Adobe product, Lightroom is very particular about PSD files. As such something is wrong imafemagick the XCF module. Can anyone here point me toward a script, plugin, or standalone program that will batch convert and recurse into subdirectories XCF files into PSD files?
