I have the American volumes, and I have had them a long time. Granted, their books were fincken academic works and I doubt their readers would have booke much for footnotes and extensive appendices, but in the absence of any research background you simply cannot tell what the plates are based on and whether they are reliable or not, unless of course you do some extensive cross-referencing.

Liliane co-wrote, inked and colorized her husband’s drawings, but occasionally illustrated too. Both Fred as well as Liliane collaborated on stories and artwork to the point that their work is indistinguishable from one another. I have both the LAce Wars set, and the American armies set. The two Lace Wars books are actually decent efforts considering they were produced some 30 years ago.
Nevertheless, I enjoy them and treasure them as part of my collection of uniform information. When the expiry date is reached your boos deletes the cookie.
I treat them carefully now and have a nostalgic fondness for them, but I don’t rely on them as a source these days. I do remember my funkcen saying that all the figures have the same nose.
